New Runway Construction Progress at KCXE Airport in Chase City, VA

✈️ Did you know Empire Aviation has had a second base of operations at KCXE Airport in Chase City, Virginia for years now?

Here’s what’s happening:

  • The runway has been closed since August, making way for major improvements.

  • A brand-new runway and ramp were originally set to debut in mid-October 2025. But thanks to a rainy summer, paving has been pushed back—possibly until spring.

  • Mecklenburg County is covering an impressive 95% of the project’s cost, with Chase City contributing the other 5%.

  • It’s a big investment, and when complete, Mecklenburg County is aiming to attract more military and commercial aviation business to KCXE, a move that could redefine Chase City’s role in Virginia aviation. Once the runway reopens, Empire Aviation will return to using the KCXE airfield for practice flights.

If you haven’t flown with Paul to KCXE yet, you’ll need to this spring!
