Ground School Visits Raleigh Flight Service Station
Our Spring 2011 Private Pilot Ground School visited the Raleigh Flight Services Station (FSS) at RDU on Tuesday, April 19, 2011.
“A flight service station (FSS) is an air traffic facility that provides information and services to aircraft pilots before, during, and after flights, but unlike air traffic control, is not responsible for giving instructions or clearances or providing separation.” These are the folks we speak with on the ground when getting a weather briefing (1-800-WX-BRIEF), or in the air when filing, opening, and closing flight plans.
Many thanks to Bill Hall, Manager, Raleigh Flight Service Station, and Dean, Flight Service Specialist.
